Derek Ryan “Kountry” Birl, age 37, of Maryville, Tennessee, passed away on September 27, 2025. Born and raised in Maryville, Derek spent his entire life surrounded by the people and community he loved.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Whitney Birl, his cherished sons Ryan and James, his loving mother Deborah Birl (husband Dan Mullinax and daughter Paula Abbott) and his brother Todd Crisp. Derek was preceded in death by his father, James Birl, and his brother, Jimmy Burrell.
Those who knew Derek will remember his kindness, humor, and the deep love he had for his family. He touched the lives of many with his generous spirit and steady presence, leaving behind countless memories that will be treasured forever.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor Derek and the joy he brought to those around him. Details will be shared with family and friends once plans are finalized.
