Patricia Y. (Pruitt) McPherson passed away on January 15, 2026, in Maryville, TN at the age of 85. She was born on August 26,1940, in Gadsden, AL and raised in Knoxville, TN. McPherson graduated from South High School in 1958. In 1961, she married Rev. Douglas C. McPherson. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She was loved by many.
Preceded in death by her father Alex Simpson, mother Eva Simpson, husband Douglas McPherson and several aunts and uncles. She was survived by her sons Jack (Elizabeth) McPherson, Mark (Dani) McPherson; Grandchildren Patrick (Abby) McPherson, Tara McPherson and great granddaughter Haven McPherson.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Amedisys Home Health and especially the incredible nurses of 4E at Blount Memorial Hospital—Tara, Alex, Jazmine, and Cyndi—for their compassionate care, kindness, and unwavering support. The family also wishes to thank the caring staff at Morning View Transition and Assisted Living for their compassion, attentiveness, and the respect shown throughout this journey.
The family will hold a Memorial Service at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Maryville, TN on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 2:00 with the burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
