Stephen (Gabby) Michael Bivens, 71, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at his home in Maryville, Tennessee. He was born on May 2, 1953 to parents Elden B. Bivens and Maude (Finger) Bivens of Friendsville, Tennesee. He grew up in Friendsville and graduated from Friendsville High School. Gabby was of the Baptist Faith. He worked at Alcoa Aluminum Company for 46 years and retired in 2019. Gabby enjoyed fishing, playing poker with his friends, raising tomatoes, and time spent with his grandchildren and family. He had a black belt in Isshinryu karate and was also an avid runner, lifted weights, and a grill master. He was predeceased by his parents Elden and Maude Bivens and brother Philip K. Bivens. He leaves behind his wife of 22 years Teri (Coada) Bivens, daughter Stephanie Michelle (Matt) Burr, granddaughters Kija and Sunshine Burr, sister Gayla (Michael) M. Wright, brothers Robert E. Bivens (Ecuador), and Rick (Nora) D. Bivens (Morristown), also several nieces and nephews, his sister-in-law Susan (Coada) Summers (Knoxville) and his brother-in-law, John Coada (Maryville). Gabby’s life will be celebrated later in a private ceremony in Maryville, TN.
