Jerry Kenneth Goan 08/10/1956 - 02/01/2026

Jerry Kenneth Goan, age 69, of Maryville, Tennessee, passed away on February 1, 2026, in his hometown of Maryville.

Jerry was born on August 10, 1956, in Maryville, Tennessee, to Lula Mae and Frank Goan, wo preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Larry and Sonny Goan.

A lifelong resident of Maryville, Jerry was a graduate of Everett High School. He dedicated more than 25 years of service to Downey Oil Company, where he worked faithfully as a maintenance technician and truck driver. He was known for his strong work ethic, mechanical skill, and steady presence.

While Jerry enjoyed working on cars and took pride in fixing and maintaining them, one of his greatest passions was ancestry research. He devoted countless hours to tracing his family lineage, carefully studying records and piecing together generations of history. Through his dedication, he was able to trace branches of his family tree back to the 1500s - an accomplishment he took great pride in. His love of genealogy not only connected him to the past but also helped him reconnect with many cousins and extended family members in the present, relationships he truly valued.

Above all, jerry had a lifelong love of his dogs, which brought him much joy and loyal companionship.

Jerry could be a little grumpy at times, a trait those who knew him best came to expect and smile about. Beneath that gruff exterior, however, was a loyal friend with a generous heart. He valued his friendships deeply, enjoyed sharing stories and discoveries from his ancestry research, and was always willing to lend a helping hand when it was needed. His friends knew that his straightforward ways were simply part of what made Jerry, Jerry.

He is survived by many cousins and a host of good friends who will cherish his memory. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Jerry will be remembered for his dedication to his work, his love of family and friends, and his deep appreciation for the generations who came before him.
