Linda Diane Thompson 08/02/1957 - 08/28/2025
Linda Diane Thompson - age 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on August 28, 2025, at her home in Lenoir City, TN. She fought a good fight, and having finished her race has traded a broken body for a crown of glory. We weep for ourselves, but her loved ones are so thankful to know she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and no longer in pain. Linda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who happily sacrificed to make special memories and traditions with her family and friends of which there were many. Linda was a faithful Christian lady of the Apostolic Pentecostal faith and attended First Apostolic Church of Maryville, TN. She spent the whole of her life investing in the Kingdom of God in countless capacities; as a Sunday school teacher, choir soloist, puppet ministry worker, youth Pastor’s wife, church secretary, hostess for evangelists and missionaries from around the world for many years and an involved member of the Azusa Street Riders. In all these roles and more, she did so with her high heels on. She was also known to “adopt” people as her own, and had many bonus sons and daughters because of her capacity for love and generosity. She was preceded in death by her brother David Herring, a Miami police officer who died in the line of duty, and her parents Barbara & Tommy Herring. She is survived by her beloved husband of 39 years, Robert Thompson of Lenoir City, TN; son and daughter-in-law Shawn & Andrea Thompson of Knoxville, TN; daughter Ashley Thompson of Petersburg, Florida; and grandchildren Ethan & Abigial Richards of Knoxville, TN.
