Ruth Isabelle Shook Law and Keith Benton Law left this earth to live with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Keith left on April 5, 2025 and Ruth followed on July 18, 2025.

Ruth was born March 4, 1944, and grew up in Statesville, NC.  She was the last living of 6 siblings. She grew up as a member of Sharon Lutheran Church in Statesville and graduated from Celeste Henklel High School in 1962.

Keith was born June 15, 1941, and grew up in Maryville, TN.  He was the last living of 8 siblings.  He grew up as a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and graduated from Walland High School in 1959.

Ruth and Keith met in 1961 in Statesville, NC at Eagle's Dime Store.  They married July 14, 1963, and spent 61 years together here on earth.  They moved to Maryville in 1970 and joined St. Paul Lutheran Church where they were members until their deaths.

They both cherished their extended family and friends but their most prized roles were parents to their daughters.  Both had successful careers.  Ruth retired from JC Penney's as Shoe Buyer in 1995 to help Keith follow his dream of owning convenient stores.  Keith was an entrepreneur at heart and owned / co-owned several successful businesses, including Law's Enterprises, Amlet Bicycle Shop, Hicks and Law Insurors, and finally his dream, Law's Brickmill Market and Deli, which he co-owed with Ruth and Amy.

Ruth and Keith are survived by their daughter, Leslie (Scott) Morstatt; grandchildren, Josef Benton and Isabella Marie Morstatt; and daughter Amy (Jim) Law; 4 sisters-in-law, especially Ann Shook; and many nieces and nephews.

Both Ruth and Keith did their best to follow Jesus and were never shy to share their faith with others.  In lieu of flowers, they would request you give money to your church or your favorite Christian charity.  The family would like to especially thank Dialysis Clinics, Inc. Home Care Program for their partnership in caring for Ruth for the last four years. Their incredible attention allowed Ruth to have hemodialysis at home. Tax-deductible donations may be made in her name to Dialysis Clinics, Inc., 1633 Church St., Suite 500, Nashville, TN 37702, Attn: Sondra Payne.

The family would also like to thank The Reverend Scottie Burkhalter of Kingsport; The Reverend Rick Ohsiek and St. Paul Lutheran Church for their support and hosting the Celebration of Life ceremony and reception; and Blount Funeral and Cremation for helping with the arrangements and their willingness to fulfill Keith and Ruth's last wishes.

The Celebration of Life is August 16, 2025 at 1pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Ruth and Keith are buried at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Maryville, TN, but they would say that they are in their eternal home in heaven.
