Sherri Dean (Best) McCall finished her ministry and mission of loving and serving others in this life, on April 25, 2025. She grew up in the Friendsville Community and attended William Blount High School, the University of Tennessee and Lincoln Memorial University, where she earned her undergraduate and advanced degrees, respectively. As a lifelong Blount Countian, Sherri’s legacy of service includes over thirty collective years as an educator in Blount County and Maryville City Schools, where she taught business and culinary arts. She also had a passion and love for music, worship, cooking, rocking babies in the church nursery, fellowshipping with friends, mentoring other teachers, and building lasting relationships with her much-loved students. Most of all, Sherri loved being a devoted mother and a loyal, faithful friend to all. She will be especially remembered for her unselfish and generous spirit, her delightful sense of humor, and her ample and robust laughter, which brought much joy and fun to the lives of all who knew her. Sherri lived her personal testimony of faith every day by loving others just like Jesus does. In doing so, she was a dependable and steadfast rock of support to everyone in her life. She always anticipated the needs of others before her own, and she continuously showed up in the lives of her beloved people as a willing helper, caring friend, and fierce advocate. Sherri’s father, Dean Best and her sister-in-law, Lisa Best, preceded her passing. She will be greatly missed by her surviving children, Jessi and Joey McCall, her mother Linda Best, her brothers Gary and Dale (Katie) Best, several adored nieces and nephews, and her children’s father, Doug McCall. Sherri also leaves an indelible and loving mark on the lives of many cherished friends, colleagues, and countless former students that she leaves behind. Family and friends will gather to celebrate and honor Sherri by receiving friends from 5-7 PM on Thursday, May 1 st at Maryville Church of Christ (611 Sherwood Drive, Maryville, TN 37801) with funeral service to immediately follow. Graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 2 nd at Union Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery (1151 Lane Drive, Friendsville, TN 37737). Tony Taylor will be officiating services, with Blount Funeral and Cremation in charge of arrangements.
