In Loving Memory of Evelyn Elizabeth White Payne

Evelyn Elizabeth White Payne, 84, of Maryville, Tennessee, formerly of Tellico Plains, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, memories, and countless people whose lives were made brighter simply by knowing her.

Born on March 9, 1942, Evelyn was a woman who found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She loved nature, the peaceful beauty of waterfalls, and spending time surrounded by the people she loved most. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment she was able to spend with them. Evelyn also had a special love for cats, a passion that became a beloved part of who she was.

Evelyn was a devoted wife to her husband, Johnny Payne, and a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her daughter, Kim Monroe Bailey(Royce); her step-sons, Jeff Payne(Tracy), Brad Payne(Sherri), Brandon Payne(Misty) and Michael Payne(Anne); and her sister Carolyn Henderson(Bobby Goforth).

She leaves behind her grandchildren: Tony Enea(Brandy), Paige Pavey(Robert), Miranda Williams(Donavon), Lexie Payne, Athena Glover, Zachary Payne(Miranda), Shealey Russell(Garrett), Alex Bradam(Stacy), Madalyn Payne, Josh Payne(Kirsten), and Julia Payne, along with numerous great-grandchildren who brought immeasurable joy to her life.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ray White and Lucille Norwood White; her daughter Denise Monroe Brewer; and her sister Helen Taylor. She will also be deeply missed by countless other family members and friends who were blessed to know her.

Those who knew Evelyn will remember her not only for the love she gave so freely, but for the warmth she brought into a room, her appreciation for the beauty of nature, her love for her family, and her tender heart for animals. She had a way of making people feel loved and welcomed, and the memories she created with her family will be treasured for generations to come.

Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort in knowing that Evelyn’s love does not end here. She leaves pieces of herself behind in every person she loved and every story she shared.

Visitation will be held on August 20, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dotson Memorial Baptist Church, located at 814 Dotson Memorial Road, Maryville, TN 37801. Royce Bailey will be officiating the funeral service that will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Entombment will take place on August 21, 2026, at Grandview Mausoleum, located at 2304 Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville, TN 37803. Arrangements are made by Blount Funeral and Cremation.
