Polly H. Johnson 07/05/1940 - 03/23/2026
Polly “Helen” Johnson, 85, of Maryville, TN, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, March 23, 2026. She was born on July 5, 1940, to the late Luke and Lena (Brewer) Headrick of Wears Valley, TN.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 57 years, Roy A. Johnson; sister, Lois Headrick Luebke. She is survived by sons and daughters in law, Keith and Tiffany Johnson, Mike and Susan Johnson; grandchildren, Alicia (Chris) Marlow, Blake (Shannon) Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Will Johnson, Noelle Johnson; great grandchildren, Sophia, Gabby, Nick Marlow and Turner Parks; sister, Virginia Headrick Frye; and several nieces and nephews.
Helen loved serving her community. Along with her husband Roy, they taught the children’s Sunday School class for over 25 years. She served as a volunteer at The Good Shepherd Center in Madisonville for many years. Helen also enjoyed gardening and had a love for music. She sang in the choir at St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a member.
There were so many people who helped our family through this difficult journey. We would like to extend a special thanks to Alicia, Shannon, and Alta for the time they spent caring for Helen in our home. She was much loved while she was here. Helen’s niece Amy and husband Jon, were always a loving source of support for us and Helen. We are also very thankful for the wonderful friendships of Alice Mansmith and Sue Ann Barker. You brought joy to Helen’s life and she loved you both dearly. In the last 5 months of Helen’s life, she lived in the memory care unit at American House Assisted Living in Knoxville, TN. Our family could not have asked for a more caring team of individuals to take care of her every day.
The family will be receiving friends on Friday, March 27, from 5:00-7:00 pm, with service following, at Blount Funeral Home on 411 Hwy, Maryville. Helen’s nephew, Preacher Greg Long, will be officiating the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Good Shepherd Center in Madisonville, TN or Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital in Knoxville, TN.
