Sherri Dean (Best) McCall 02/27/1963-04/25/2025
Sherri Dean (Best) McCall finished her ministry and mission of loving and serving others in this life, on April 25, 2025. She grew up in the Friendsville Community and attended William Blount High School, the University of Tennessee and Lincoln Memorial University, where she earned her undergraduate and advanced degrees, respectively. As a lifelong Blount Countian, Sherri’s legacy of service includes over thirty collective years as an educator in Blount County and Maryville City Schools, where she taught business and culinary arts. She also had a passion and love for music, worship, cooking, rocking babies in the church nursery, fellowshipping with friends, mentoring other teachers, and building lasting relationships with her much-loved students. Most of all, Sherri loved being a devoted mother and a loyal, faithful friend to all. She will be especially remembered for her unselfish and generous spirit, her delightful sense of humor, and her ample and robust laughter, which brought much joy and fun to the lives of all who knew her. Sherri lived her personal testimony of faith every day by loving others just like Jesus does. In doing so, she was a dependable and steadfast rock of support to everyone in her life. She always anticipated the needs of others before her own, and she continuously showed up in the lives of her beloved people as a willing helper, caring friend, and fierce advocate. Sherri’s father, Dean Best and her sister-in-law, Lisa Best, preceded her passing. She will be greatly missed by her surviving children, Jessi and Joey McCall, her mother Linda Best, her brothers Gary and Dale (Katie) Best, several adored nieces and nephews, and her children’s father, Doug McCall. Sherri also leaves an indelible and loving mark on the lives of many cherished friends, colleagues, and countless former students that she leaves behind. Family and friends will gather to celebrate and honor Sherri by receiving friends from 5-7 PM on Thursday, May 1 st at Maryville Church of Christ (611 Sherwood Drive, Maryville, TN 37801) with funeral service to immediately follow. Graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 2 nd at Union Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery (1151 Lane Drive, Friendsville, TN 37737). Tony Taylor will be officiating services, with Blount Funeral and Cremation in charge of arrangements.
Winston (Jim) Hill 11/13/1941-04/20/2025
Winston (Jim) Hill went home to be with our Lord and Savior on April 20, 2025. He was a longtime servant in the US Army, retiring with Honors. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Past Master of three Masonic Lodges. Member of the Scottish Rite and past President of the National Sojourners. He leaves behind his faithful and loving wife Gisela, son Thomas (wife Darby), sister Donna, brother Douglas, Preceded in death by sons, Roger and William; parents, Harold and Helen, sisters Mary and Betty. Receiving of friends at Pleasant Grove Baptist Grove Baptist Church from 2PM to 3PM on May 4th, with services following.
Barbara Jean Proctor 07/02/1942-03/28/2025
Barbara Jean Proctor age 82 of Seymour, Tennessee, went to be with her Lord and savior on March 28th,2025. She left this life at her home surrounded by loving family. Born July 2nd,1942 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Barbara was a baptized and a devoted Christian. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
The family finds comfort in the words of Revelation 21:4; “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more, mourning and crying and pain will be no more."
Barbara always wanted to be a wife and a mother with a big family as she was an only child and she did just that. She poured every ounce of love she had to give into her family. She raised her kids and helped raise many of her grandchildren and loved every minute of it. Barbara also had many accomplishments. She was a high school graduate. She won several drag races on the weekends at the racetrack with her husband, Keith. Many years later she went back to school, at the age of 69. She attended Pellissippi State Community College where she graduated with an Associates of Science with a focus in forensics.
She had a love for all things Disney and spent many summers in Orlando Florida on family vacations. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit remains ever present in our lives. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished. It is not a goodbye but a "see you later".
She was proceeded in death by her mother Edith McColister and her loving husband Keith Proctor of 52 Years.
She is survived by her beloved kids Teresa Everett and husband David of Maryville; Melissa Pendleton and husband Scott of Seymour; Keith Proctor and wife Janaye of Knoxville; and Nicholas Proctor and wife Nichole of Harriman.
She is also survived by her many grandkids and great grandkids who she loved and adored so much. Ashton Sexton and husband Ryan and great granddaughter Annalea of Powell; Mitchell Everett wife Amanda and great grandchildren Jackson and (baby girl Everett) of Knoxville; Zachary Pendleton wife Hannah and great grandchildren Abigail and (baby Pendleton) of Alcoa; Madison Everett of Maryville; Tyler Proctor of Farragut; Kylie and Liam Proctor of Harriman; Amelia and Hunter Proctor of Powell.
Family and friends will gather for a celebration of life at Blount Funeral and Cremation, 2730 Highway 411 S, Maryville, TN 37801, on Saturday April 5th at 3:30 pm.
Jerry Glenn Millsaps 07/25/1953-03/24/2025
Jerry Glenn Millsaps, age 71 of Friendsville, TN passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025 surrounded by family. Jerry graduated from Friendsville High School in 1971 and started his 26 year military career in the Army, transitioning to Air Force, retired as CMSgt with the Kansas National Guard at the 190th ARW. Jerry was preceded in death by son Travis; Parents, Loyd C. and Norma Jean Millsaps; Sister and Brother-in-law Connie and Randall Travis. Survived by daughter Jennifer; sons Trent (Tracy), Jake and Colton; grandchildren, Cody, Mayce, Jayden, Janelle, Jagger. Siblings Chuck (Brenda) Millsaps, Joann (Tater) Wells, Diana (Roy) Clendenen, many nieces & nephews; extended family and extensive military family. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 31, 2025 from 5pm-7pm at Immanuel Baptist Church, service at 7PM. Family and friends will assemble at 1:00 PM, April 1, 2025 at Grandview Cemetery for the internment, Military Services.
